REP. CAPRIGLIONE NAMED CHAIR OF HOUSE DELIVERY OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY COMMITTEE

AUSTIN – Today, Representative Giovanni Capriglione was appointed Chair of the newly created House Delivery of Government Efficiency Committee by House Speaker Dustin Burrows.

“I am honored to lead this critical committee focused on making Texas government leaner, more efficient, and accountable to the people,” said Representative Capriglione. “The days of bloated government are over. Every dollar the government spends comes from hardworking Texans. It’s our responsibility to eliminate waste, cut inefficiencies, and spend wisely—just like families do when managing their own budgets. I would like to thank Speaker Burrows for his foresight in creating this innovative and much-needed committee.”

The House Delivery of Government Efficiency Committee will be responsible for identifying and eliminating inefficiencies in state programs, ensuring oversight of agency regulatory processes, and modernizing government operations through technology. The committee will also focus on open government, the use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and cybersecurity.

“Government must innovate, not stagnate,” Capriglione added. “By leveraging modern technology, we can do more with less, ensuring every state agency delivers maximum value for every dollar spent. Smarter technology means smarter government – leaner, faster, and more efficient. We will also strengthen oversight of government contracting to root out fraud, waste, and abuse, holding agencies and contractors accountable for every taxpayer dollar.”

Serving his seventh term in the Texas House, Representative Capriglione has long been a leader in government transparency, fiscal responsibility, and technological innovation. Representative Capriglione has also been appointed as a member of the House Committee on Ways & Means and the Permanent Standing Subcommittee on Property Tax Appraisals.

Here at Governor Abbott’s State of the State as he outlines his vision for Texas which includes strong border protections, teacher pay raises, property tax cut and more. I’m deeply honored by the Governor’s announcement and trust in me to help lead our state’s urgent cybersecurity initiative. With cyberattacks—both domestic and foreign—growing more frequent every day, it’s clear that we need a strong, dedicated force to protect our families, businesses, and way of life. Establishing a new Texas Cyber Command isn’t just a priority—it’s an essential response to a very real threat facing our great state.

Working alongside Tan Parker and our dedicated colleagues, I’m committed to pushing this vital legislation forward as swiftly as possible. Our focus remains on securing Texas from these cyber threats, putting the safety and well-being of our communities first. #txlege

On National Sexual Assault Survivors Day, we stand with those affected by these heinous crimes and commit to action. Today I filed House Bill 2151 to ensure repeat indecent assault offenders face increased sex offender registration requirements. By addressing these crimes early, we can help prevent escalation, protect our communities, and demand accountability. There is no place in Texas for those who do harm to our families and children. Together, we can make Texas safer for everyone.
