It is an incredible honor and privilege to be sworn in for my 7th term to serve the people of House District 98. I am deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me and for the many conversations we’ve had over the years while blockwalking and connecting.

Those discussions have shaped my priorities, and I’ll carry your concerns and hopes with me every step of the way. There’s a lot of work ahead. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Let’s get to it!

NEWS!

As a returning state representative, I get a jump start on filing legislation. Today is that day, and we’re wasting no time getting to work. While the official bill filing deadline is still months away, our office is ready to protect Texans—our values, our security, and our taxpayer dollars. Here’s a quick look at each:

Higher Ed Gifts from Certain Nations (HB 173): This is a strong step to shut the door on influence from certain foreign nations by prohibiting our public colleges and universities from accepting their gifts, grants, or donations. With the growing concerns regarding foreign entities that try to infiltrate our schools, influence our culture, and reshape policies, this bill secures Texas higher education against unwanted foreign interference. That way, Texas universities serve Texans first and stay true to the values of our state, not the interests of nations like China, Iran, North Korea, Russia, or any country that supports foreign terrorist organizations.

Fentanyl Statute (HB 166): This bill takes a stand against the fentanyl crisis, which has surged due to lax border security, allowing cartels and traffickers to exploit vulnerabilities along our southern border. Fentanyl has devastated communities across the country, with deadly consequences for those exposed. This bill puts Texans first, tightening legal boundaries to ensure there’s zero tolerance for endangering the lives of those who need our protection most: children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.

Municipal Lobbying (HB 223): Right now, local governments can hire taxpayer-funded lobbyists to influence policies at the state or federal level without a full, transparent process. This bill requires any municipality planning to spend taxpayer dollars on lobbying efforts, especially if they aim to influence our policies, to disclose those contracts publicly. Texans deserve to fully know if their hard-earned dollars are funding any lobbyists who might argue against values and priorities that Texans hold dear.

In Texas, I take my role as a public servant seriously, and each of these bills is designed to uphold that responsibility. From protecting Texans from outside influence and harmful drugs to safeguarding taxpayer dollars, we’re setting the stage for a strong legislative session.

I had the honor of visiting the Silverado Southlake Memory Care facility to present Texas flags flown over the Capitol to some of our bravest veterans. These men and women answered the call to serve, giving so much of themselves to protect the freedoms we hold dear. #thankaveteran

Honoring our heroes this Veteran’s Day. Today, I had the privilege of visiting The Evergreen at Keller to personally thank twelve of our senior Veterans and their families. Each of them has sacrificed for our freedom, and it’s humbling to hear their stories and show them our gratitude. Let’s take a moment to remember, appreciate, and thank all the brave men and women who have served!
