Rep. Giovanni Capriglione Applauds Gov. Abbott’s Property Tax Reform Plan
ARLINGTON, TX – Today, Rep. Giovanni Capriglione (R-Southlake) was invited by Gov. Abbott to announce his plan to rein in the increasing property tax burden on homeowners and businesses.
“I applaud the Governor’s plan to reduce property taxes, empower voters in the process and increase transparency of taxing authorities,” said Rep. Capriglione.
“Property tax reform has been a priority of mine since I got to the Texas House, and I look forward to working with the Governor to address this problem.”
Rep. Capriglione has been a leader in the House for property tax reform and government transparency. Rep. Capriglione has voted to increase the homestead exemption and voted to allow voters to veto attempts to raise local property taxes.
Prior to being elected to the Texas House, Rep. Capriglione led successful campaigns against property tax increases in Northeast Tarrant County.
“I fight for property tax reforms because I want to ensure more of my constituents’ money stays in their pocket. I support a cap on property taxes increases and a plan to empower voters to hold the line on tax increases.”
Rep. Capriglione was first elected in 2012 to represent House District 98, a Northeast Tarrant County district that includes Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake, Keller and North Fort Worth. He is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Budget Transparency and Reform where he is rooting out waste, fraud and abuse in the state budget, saving taxpayers millions. He is running for re-election in the Republican Primary on March 6th .
